Pastor Dan’s Article

Our Place in this World
Take the time to read John 17, a prayer of Jesus.
Throughout the chapter, Jesus repeatedly differentiates his disciples from what he calls “the world.” The difference, Jesus maintains, is one of belonging. The disciples are different because they belong to Jesus, not the world, and therefore strive to not conform to the world’s values. Even though Christians do in fact conform to the world’s values sometimes is beside the point. In the eyes of Jesus, what makes his disciples different is not first and foremost how they live (though it is very important), it’s to whom they belong. Another way of saying this is that Christian identity is always positive; we’re defined by what we are – people who find their identity in Christ – not by what we are not.
This positive way of framing the difference between Christians and non-Christians is a helpful reminder that we are to have a positive influence on the world and not have a passive, ‘I don’t care’ attitude and seclude ourselves from the world.

New Testament scholar, Richard Bauckham, summarizes this approach: “The way of Jesus’ followers is the way of Jesus himself – the Jesus of the Gospels who moved freely wherever his love was needed, compromising himself in the eyes of the holier-than-thou, but disturbing and attracting precisely by being so positively different from the ordinary way of the world. To belong to Jesus requires the courage to be different, to be like Jesus, actually for the sake of the world. And to belong to Jesus sets us free to be in the world, where people need us, where God needs us, without succumbing to the false gods to whom too many in our societies are enslaved.”

Summarizing these thoughts I believe our mission can simply put this way:
We are to –
Seek, See, and Be Jesus; Here, There, and Everywhere.

Love in Christ,

Pastor Dan

Pastor Dan’s Article

Push Your Prayers
P – PRAY
U – UNTIL
S – SOMETHING
H – HAPPENS
God offers every believer a bridge that reaches directly into His throne room.
He has given you access to His ear and His voice through this bridge.
But He will not force you to cross it.
You must walk across the bridge on your own.
That bridge is prayer, and it is crossed by faith.
When you face trials, challenges, unmet expectations and unfulfilled desires in your life, you need the supernatural intervention of God.
We all need the supernatural intervention of God.
How do I know that? Because I’ve seen it and witnessed it in countless lives, as well as in my own life.
The natural human solutions to life’s problems don’t do anything substantial or long-lasting.
They may fix things temporarily, mask them or distract you for a moment.
But transformational and supernatural power comes only from God.
And only one bridge gives you access to Him: prayer.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
It is God’s will for us to be in constant communica-tion with Him, and we that when we talk with Him.
So fill your days with prayer recognizing God is with us always.
May this bring to you a refreshing of a growing relationship with the Lord, just as spring brings us a refreshing time of growth each year.

God’s Best Blessings to you all.

Pastor Dan

Pastor Dan’s Article

As faithful followers of Jesus Christ we all long for a deeper spiritual renewal. We hunger for a more meaningful relationship with God. Our desire to draw closer to God inspires us to read Scripture, fast, and pray. This Season of Lent is a great place to start such a journey.
As we join together, we are all invited to take an intense journey with Jesus: from Ash Wednesday through Holy Week and Easter, and then on to Pentecost – from penitence, to praise, to power!
This is an awesome opportunity for us to rejoice and remember the story of our Lord and Savior. To once again embrace the outpouring of the Spirit in fullness and power, the promised gift of Jesus to us, His people. If we follow faithfully, we all will experience an avenue to God’s transforming, life-renewing power. So, let’s immerse ourselves in the Sacred Scriptures and satisfy our hunger to know Christ in a deeper, more intimate way.
John, in remembering the words of Jesus, gives us a key insight: “You search the scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that testify on my behalf.” (John 5:39). The best way to deepen our relationship with the Living Word is to spend time in reading and meditating on the Written Word.
Over the next 14 weeks, we all can have an amazing journey. We go from Ash Wednesday to Pentecost!
I am truly excited to take this journey with you all!

Love in Christ,

Pastor Dan
